We've been coming to Door County for 30 years and now spend considerable time here. Door County Ice Cream Factory is our favorite ice cream, and we're very familiar with all the shops. Island Coconut, anything cherry, English Toffee, Fresh Strawberry, Chambers Island Fudge are just some of our favorites -- never had one we didn't love. Soup and sandwiches are great, too. I agree its time for all food serving establishments to wear gloves, though.

I wasn't impressed by their ice cream. I think there are much better choices when going to Door County. I am partial to Wilson's ice cream in Ephraim. I think it's much better but this place will do if you are in the area.

I think they have some of the best ice cream in Door County. Good selection, decent service, not horribly crowded since they aren't on the main drag. Unlike Wilson's, where you pay twice as much and have to battle a crowd of cranky 10 year olds and their parents just to get your ice cream, this place is much more reasonable.

Incredible place - the ice cream is fantastic and the selection of flavors is incredible. All homemade ice cream - be sure to try their homemade hot fudge as well. Was so impressed with the ice cream, we came back the next day for lunch. The sandwhiches were great - warm bread, ample portions - again we were very impressed. Staff is fun and friendly - it is now our new favorite Door County spot - and we'll be back!

It isn't often that I post one-star reviews but for reasons my family is adamant about, we felt that at best, at this time, this is all we could give the Door County Ice Cream Factory & Sandwich Shoppe. Now the concept is simple enough - it's a decent sized shop towards the edge of Sister Bay, just opposite of a church-turned-Christmas store. One side of the store are booths for those who opt to eat-in, the other side is where you order and wait in line. Walking in here when the outdoors was typical Midwestern fall cool weather, you may expect that the indoors be slightly warmer. However, it should not be stifling hot & humid - especially when it's a place selling ice cream and other frozen treats. I don't like it when workers behind the counter are wiping their brows with their arms, shirts, and probably bare hands when they're not scooping ice cream. And this brings me to a major issue - workers using their bare hands to scoop ice cream. If it were a clean scoop where no fingers are involved touching my ice cream, then I wouldn't be so bent out of shape. But the guy scooping our 3 orders of ice cream consistently stuck his index finger and thumb into the ice cream - especially to help 'flick off' the ice cream from the scooper. DISGUSTING. Top that off, those same hands that were used to scoop-and-touch the ice cream had already touched a number of things before serving us and also went on to touch number of surfaces -- the refrigerator, the cash register, cash & coins, the doors to the freezer, the blender (to make a milkshake) -- as well as his jeans & his head (he had to an itch he could not refuse). I hate to think what else he may have touched before we walked in to the store. Did I mention the lousy service? I am patient enough to wait my turn. But when you have like 3 guys standing behind the counter and there's at most 3 groups / families (10 people, including kids) awaiting their turn -- and we clearly were the second group (all adults) in line....and you serve everyone else INCLUDING a new set of customers that came after us by over 5 minutes, then that is blatantly rude / obvious. To top that off, we weren't even acknowledged with a smile nor greeted with a hello -- as the other people were. I think every high school teenager who really wants a weekend job should have the opportunity - but it's really up to the owners and manager to find and train their people. Regardless of their age or assumed common sense. Ice cream was sub-par (we made a mental note of where the fingers hit the ice cream and ate around them) and we will for sure not be returning to this parlour. Lousy service, poor food handling skills, and so-so product. It's a shame because there's no real competition within a short walking distance. Next time, we'll be headed over to a few other ice cream shoppes down the road in the next town over.

Good ice cream, great. The ice cream isnt exotic, but it is very good, creamy and not to mention, this place is very old. Its certainly a treat and I stop in always when we are this far up! We are no regular here, but we certainly come here a lot. A wonderful treat to have, it also has some wonderful lunches, burgers, fries, chicken..

I had the Door County cherry and the Banana. In both cases the fruit was plentiful and flavor was clean and authentic.

I'm devastated that I don't live closer. We would be here weekly- friendly staff dealt with my indecisive kiddos beautifully, (finding THE flavor for them amongst all this sweet nectar is a major life decision for a grade-schooler!) patiently smiling and suggesting samples. The kids opted for (and devoured) the root beer float ice cream, and I had the turtle in a freshly-made waffle cone. There are no words to do it justice- rich, yet refreshing, divinely creamy, perfect sweetness. We'll be back... perhaps after another morning on the bike trail! :)
